When Gennadiy first arrived in the USA at the beginning of the century, the American Dream looked a lot like an $8/hour paycheck. Not glamorous. Not exciting. But that job came with something money couldn’t buy: access to the wisdom of fellow immigrants.
His colleagues were a colorful crew — people with fantastic backgrounds, wild stories, and hard-won life lessons from starting over in a new country. One of those lessons stuck with him forever. An experienced man once told him:
